WEEKLY POST

Hey people.

This week was an average week for me. It wasn't really very hectic at work but the work kept me busy throughout the day. I started on the Blue Downs project again because the Franschoek retail developement projects was given to senior architects at the firm. The project was at the stage where municiple submissions had to be drawn up for the developement which would take too long if I personally had to do it because the deadline would not be made. I personally feel relieved that I am not doing the submission because it would leave a heavy burden on my shoulders and do not want to be held resposible if anything goes wrong. At this stage I wouldnt be able to handle the preasure but Im sure with a little more experience I would be able to handle big situations like the Franschoek project.
On the Blue Downs Project we had to update the sketch up models because a few changes were made to the plans. I had to export images of the interior of the unit I was responcible for any place them with the correct unit. This was for the purpose of presentation so that the client can see and get a feel of how it would be inside the unit.
Half way through the week I was asked to help with another project where I had to correct the existing marketing plans for council. I had to set aside the Blue Downs project to complete this task.

That was my week, not much going on but it kept me busy. Till next time.

Arrivederci :)

Like The Old Days....

Hey.

This week was a continuation of the Franschoek  Development plan. I was still busy putting in the walls of the structure because it has to be prepared for municipal submission. This week was more hectic than last week because I had another employee at the firm and another senior architect working with me. The partner I was busy with haded it down to them because he was busy with another project. This week was like a crit week, it felt like I was back at campus having a crit session with all the lecturers. It was question, after question, after question and why this why that. There was a lot of pressure on me to make sure that my drawing was correct it was nerve recking. There were some measurements that were not there even doors, I felt so undermined. This was a good learning experience for me because I learned that when one goes to site to do extensions on a existing structure, you have to take in all aspects of the of the structure. Even if your asked to only look at some aspects, you need to take all of it in so that you have no dought in your mind about what has to be done.

That was it this week which felt like I was back at campus.

Cheers :)

Relax, taking it easy.

Hey :)

This week I was busy with the Franschoek Retail Developement plan. I had to convert the block plan into a working drawing which en tales putting in all the structural elements of the structure. I am currently still busy with this becuase it only has to be in next week so I'm just cruising. Other than that this week was not very busy for me, I had to do some class work after work which kept me busy but it wasn't that hectic. Overall I enjoyed this week because it was not that hectic.

Thats all I have to share, so PEACE!!!
Have a great weekend. :)

Weekly Update

Hey hey.

This was a week that did not have much work because my boss was on holiday. I only had a few things to clear up with some sketch up models that I completed on Wednesday. On Thursday myself and Aubrey would have gone on a site visit in Franschoek but we coundn't due to the works driver being busy. Today we went on to Franschoek to the site of the Retail Developement which would take place. We had to measure the heights of the existing structure (steel frame structure) as well as measure the beam profiles. I thought that the site visit would be a refreshing change of face and it was... for 1 or 2 ours. It was very tiring after a while and I wish that I was back in the office but all in all it was a good learing experience.

During the week we had someone come do there job shadowing at the firm. He was in Grade 11 intrested in studing architecture. We were able to give him some good advice becasue we had people still studying as well as myself who is still studying so we were gave him the in and outs of studying architecture.

Thats was my week, and to those of you that have holiday... I hate you. lol!

Have a good one. PEACE!!

Hi all :)

Last week was not that interesting because not much happened at work. I had to compile booklets for clients comprising of sketch up models in j-peg format with plans and proposed layouts and unit types. These booklets were for the Blue Downs Nuwe Begin low cost housing project. Myself and Aubrey had to build up the sketch up of the units but the units only comprised of the exterior facades of the units just to give the client an indication of how the specific unit type would look like. After the booklets were completed we then had to do all interior aspects of the units; the walls, furniture, stairs, balustrades, doors, sanitary ware and cupboards. This had to be down to all 11 units which I thought would not take that long... but because the computers at work are not exactly top notch, it takes much longer to complete a unit due to the constant lagging of the hardware. BUT...before I could start on this, one of the partners at our firm asked me and another colleague to complete a sketch up model and print it out to compile a presentation booklet for the NEXT DAY. My colleague and I were very frustrated with him because we were already working on other projects and then suddenly he expects us to complete this for the next day. We put our frustrations aside and completed the booklet just in time to present to the client. I guess when push comes to shove anything is possible.

Now back to the interior aspects of the unit types. After many frustrating moments we completed the interior of all the units. On top of all of this I had a party in a club during the week too... but that is a story I won't share...:)

I guess the week was actually more hectic then I thought...

Have a good week... Peace
