Hey :)
This week was a week that was filled with work. The Aan de Weber project had to be completed for the clients to review the units they would be buying. Leading up to today was a very stressful and hard working week. We had to complete units before today in order for us to give a good presentationt o the client. This would of been not that much work to do, but becuase we are still waiting for the hard drive to return from Cape Town we had to use back up drawing files of the unit types. This meant that the units were not up to date with the latest changes. Units with the a drawing title of A had to be I, drawing titles with B had to be D etc. After making sure that we had all the neccessary units and they were correctly named we were able to update the drawing to the what would have been the latest drawings. The problem with these unit type Auto CAD drawings was the lines of the walls... There were lines that were not straight and its not major that you can see it, they were minute so I would have to zoom in and out trying to delete lines that are not suppose to be there. This had to be done otherwise when it came to hatching the walls it would not hatch. The most frustrating thing about all these drawings was that they were done by an archtitect at the firm. One would think that an architect with some experience would know how to draw up a proper drawing.
After correcting all the lines I was able to work more productively. After this it was a continuous crit process with every sigle drawing, changing this changing that until the senior architect was satified. This continued till this afternoon, it has been a hard and long week. Luckily for me we are able to watch the rugby in the firm which made my day a lot better being a big Springbok supporter. That was a hard game thank goodness we were able to hold out to the end.
Till next Firday, have a good one :)

WEEKLY POST
Hey All :)
This week did not have much going on at the firm. Our work drive, K Drive, is still being fixed and has yet to come back to the firm. As a result my post this week will be short and will not contain much. All I did this week was work on residential units for a development near James Town. The name of the settlement is called Aan de Weber and will consist of multiple housing units of different sizes. I had to adjust the plans according to what the director wanted at our firm. Other than that the only other thing worth mentioning is that we are allowed to watch the rugby at work. This made the working environment much easier... OK, with the rugby on not much work was done but when it was finished it was back to work.
That's all for the week, have a good one. :)

...There is still a problem
Hey
This past week we were not able to work from our complete K Drive as it is still being fixed in Cape Town. There is however a temporary drive set up so that we are able to work from some of the work that has been uploaded before the K Drives hard drive was sent off to Cape Town.
With all that said I hadn't had much work to do at practice this week because of the accessibility of the work that we need from the K Drive. The Only work I did do was continue working on a sketch up model which I thought I would finish in the middle of the week but only finished by the end of the week. I had some complications with sketch up as some of my faces did not want to create surfaces and they were just lines. I did not know what was wrong because from what I could see the lines were connected. After many frustrating attempts at trying to connect the lines I would eventually give up and redraw whatever I was trying to connect. I eventually discovered that the Auto CAD drawings that I imported into sketch up did not have straight lines. This was confusing to me because all the lines of the drawing in Auto CAD were straight but when I imported them to sketch up they didn't line up. These lines were out by a millimetre or less because it was not evident in the drawing. I asked a colleague of mine and he told me that if you import drawings from Auto Cad into sketch up you have to make sure all the lines are straight otherwise they will not line up if you had to construct a model in sketch up. Even if the lines are out by a single millimeter they will not create a face in sketch up. I was told to rather then drawing from Auto CAD drawings it is better to measure the drawings and construct it in that manner. This way you ensure that the lines in sketch up are straight and that the model is being built or constructed in the correct manner. This is vital because if we had to hand it to the graphic designing team, it makes there jobs a lot easier as it makes the rendering of faces much easier.
That is all for this week, not much work but enough to get through the week.
Till next Friday , PEACE and have a good one :)

Houston, we have a problem!!!
Hey :)
This week we had a problem with our network. It all started with the weekend before when they were installing a new network so that things at work could run more smoother. Everyone thought that they would be done with it over the weekend but as it turned out, it wasn't. This meant that the K drive where all the firms projects are saved could not be loaded or accessed by anyone in the firm. This was a big problem as no one was able to work. This carried on till Tuesday and then when Wednesday arrived they were able to load certain projects that needed to be completed on the K drive. This gave me some work to do as I had to do some chages to a heritage building which was being transformed into a museum. They however were not able to load the entire drive as there was still a problem. The hard drive of the K drive had to sent to Cape Town so that all the files could be recovered, now the firm is patientlly waiting for the return of all the files. Hopefully it will arrive early this week so that the firm can get back to its working ways.
Till next time. Have a good one :) GO BOKKE!!

Weekly Update
Hey.
This week was the seem as the previous week. I had to work on residential units in the James town area. After the meeting in the previous week the clients wanted more of a variety of units for the Friday the following week. We had to work on multiple units before we arrived of the at the units that was needed for the client. When Friday came we had to rush AGAIN to complete the units for the clients for a 12:00 meeting. After we rushed to complete it the client phoned to pospone the meeting to Monday. We were happy that it has been moved. When we were done with the work it was time for a function at my work place. It was a get together which consisted of a braai, it was so that we get together as colluges and to have a good time. It was a good get together I had a lot of fun.
Until next time. Have a good one :)
